Shay Purdy is a consultant at Summa Strategies. Shay brings seven years’ experience in federal political operations to Summa, adding significant depth to our team.
Shay started his career in politics working for the House of Commons’ Parliamentary Publications branch, where he developed his institutional and procedural knowledge of Parliament. He was recruited in 2008 to the team which eventually propelled Jack Layton and the New Democratic Party of Canada into Official Opposition status; serving in the positions of Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Executive Assistant to the Leader, and National Caucus Coordinator, as well as central campaign roles on the 2008 and 2011 election Leader’s Tours.
Shay was National Caucus Coordinator for the former leader of the Official Opposition, Thomas Mulcair, until joining Summa in August 2013.
Born and raised in rural Nova Scotia, Shay holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in Social Sciences from Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec, and works in both official languages.
